Wegmans and Whole Foods among best companies to work for

Four food retailers, including Wegmans and Whole Foods, made Fortune magazine's annual list of the "100 Best Companies to Work For."

Wegmans ranked 5th (as compared to 4th last year), Whole Foods ranked 71st (32nd last year), Nugget Market (California) ranked 34th (no change), and Publix ranked 77th (78th last year).

Two-thirds of a company's score is based on random employee surveys, and one-third is based on company responses to a Culture Audit questionnaire.

Wegmans leads supermarkets on Best Companies to Work For list

Four supermarket retailers were named to the annual 100 Best Companies to Work For list published last week by Fortune Magazine. Wegmans ranked fourth on the list, followed by Whole Foods Market at #32, Nugget Market (CA) at #34, and Publix Super Markets at #78.

Google topped the list, which also included retailers REI (#8), Zappos (#10), The Container Store (#22), Men's Wearhouse (#55), Nordstrom (#61), Starbucks (#73) and CarMax (#91).
