It was reported about a month ago that Whole Foods had experienced a data breach where some customer credit and debit card info was hacked (Whole Foods announces credit and debit card hack). Shortly thereafter it was revealed that some stores in the Greater Philadelphia area were included in the breach.
The cyber attack, which was aimed at Whole Foods' taprooms and restaurants and not the stores grocery checkout lines, affected the Center City store at 2101 Pennsylvania Ave., as well as stores in Wynnewood, Allentown, Upper St. Clair and Wexford.
Whole Foods said it has taken "appropriate measures" to address the issue, and the investigation is ongoing.

TargetExpress to open in Center City Philadelphia
Target announced last week that it plans to open a TargetExpress store next summer at 19th and Chestnut in Philadelphia, and according to reports, the company is already considering a second Center City location.
Earlier this year Target announced that it would open TargetExpress stores in urban areas, including San Francisco and Chicago.
The Philadelphia store is slated to be 21,000 square feet over two floors and will carry smaller items than typically found in full-size Target locations. The smaller items will allow carless customers to carry them and stash them in cramped apartments, according to a company spokesperson.
A decision has not been made yet as to whether there will be a pharmacy in the store. Earlier this week Target and CVS announced that the drugstore chain would acquire Target's pharmacy and clinic businesses.

Mom's Organic Market to open Center City Philly store
Supermarket News reported yesterday that Mom's Organic Market, which operates 12 stores including one in Bryn Mawr, PA, has signed a lease for 16,000 square feet in Center City Philadelphia.
The site is part of a redevelopment on 11th Street between Market and Chestnut Streets spearheaded by National Real Estate Advisors. According to the company's website, the project will include residential, office, hotel and retail space.
Mom's is slated to open in the spring of 2016.

Major supermarket chain rumored to be looking in Center City Philly
Philadelphia Inquirer Reporter Joe DiStefano reported last week that "real estate people say a major supermarket chain has lately been scouting sites for new Center City stores." DiStefano lists possible locations as the Gallery at Market East, the Girard Block redevelopment proposed for 11th-12th Streets, Market-Chestnut, and Bart Blatstein's Broad and Washington retail site.
