Philly Whole Foods to expand, relocate

Last week the Philadelphia Planning Commission approved zoning changes to the area around 22nd Street and Pennsylvania Avenue that will allow Whole Foods to relocate their existing store to a three-acre site bounded by Spring Garden Street, Hamilton Street, 21st Street and Pennsylvania Ave.

A Best Western hotel currently sites on a portion of the new site.

Developer Neal Rodin's plans call for a 55,000 SF Whole Foods with underground parking and 300-350 apartments above the store. The existing Whole Foods, which is a couple hundred yards from the proposed new site, is approximately 30,000 SF.
